Goumi berry

Eleagnus multiflora. A highly ornamental shrub, with tasty red fruits. One of the earliest fruits in the garden to ripen. Red berries are juicy, pleasantly acid and nice eaten out of hand even if slightly astringent. Usually made into pies, tarts jellies, sauces, wine, etc.
